Frequently Asked Questions:

How do I post comments on a story?
Comments can be posted below any story through the comment box, either anonymously or as a registered user. The Brown and White checks whether comments are spam (which will be rejected) by requiring the user to type in characters from an image embedded with characters.

Do I have to register to post a comment?
Registration is encouraged, but is not mandatory to post. Unregistered or anonymous users can also post comments.

Why should I register?
If someone replies to your comment, you will receive an e-mail update so you can view the reply and respond. Also, registration allows users to access other site features and users can optionally sign up for an automated e-mail delivery of the Brown and White for every issue.

Why hasn't my comment displayed on the Web site yet?
Comments are subject to rejection by The Brown and White for adherence to its policies, and therefore will not be published immediately to the site without review. Comment review will be on a regular basis and the delay should not be too long.

What specifically is not allowed in comments?
Comments that are determined to be off-topic, libelous, defamatory, indecent, vulgar or obscene, pornographic, sexually explicit or sexually suggestive, racially, culturally, or ethnically offensive, harmful, harassing, intimidating, threatening, hateful, objectionable, discriminatory, or abusive. Advertisements, spam and chain messages will also be prohibited.

If you believe you have been unfairly rejected, please contact Chris Knight , the managing editor online.

Can I use HTML in my comments?
No.

How do I reply to someone else's comment?
Click on the "reply to" box in their comment and leave the block of text in the comment box.
