Proposed express bus line to improve transportation

A new bus route will tentatively be introduced to campus this fall. The route, which is in the budget for next year, is targeted at undergraduates and will serve Asa Packer Campus.

U.S. House passes new education act

New act intends to make college education more affordable for the middle class.

The U.S. House of Representatives passed the College Opportunity and Affordability Act, designed to make a college education more accessible to middle class students, according to the official press release from the U.S. House of Representatives Committee of Education and Labor.

Residential services approves new houses

Special interest housing gives students with similar goals the option to live together.

A musical enrichment community house and a healthy living community house will be offered as new interest-based residence options for students next semester. Special interest housing is a relatively new program that allows students with common goals and interests to live together.

Tickets for the Dalai Lama's July 13 public lecture at Stabler Arena will go on sale March 3 at 10 a.m., according to a press release from university relations. The lecture, entitled "Generating a Good Heart," is from 2 to 4 p.m. on July 13.

Speaker explains buddhist education ethics

Naropa University president offers insight for upcoming visit of the Dalai Lama.

Thomas Coburm, president of Naropa University, discussed the buddhist approach to education and the idea of contemplative learning spurs great learning. The speech was one in a series of events that will be held this spring in anticipation for the Dalai Lama's visit to Lehigh this July.

Sharon Friedman, director of the Science and Environmental writing program and associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences spoke about nanotechnology. Friedman, who has spent the past seven years researching nanotechnology and its coverage in society, revealed her findings at Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, D.C. and the Society for Risk Analysis in San Antonio, Texas earlier this year.

Presidential primaries stir campus debate

Nominee races remain close, primarily in the Democratic Party.

The 2008 U.S. presidential nominee race remains close, even after Super Tuesday on Feb. 5 when 24 states held their primaries.
