The annual Lehigh Invitational Golf Tournament at the Saucon Valley Country Club will be held this weekend. Among the teams competing are Lafayette College and Bucknell, Cornell and Colgate universities.

The women's team has excelled thus far, placing in the top-two, including a win, in two of its first five matches. The men's team has not fared as well.

"It would be really nice to go out and dominate this week," senior Chad Lubart said. "It's been a slow season for us, so winning our own tournament would be a nice way to go out on top."

Lehigh's men will be counting on a strong performance from sophomore co-captain and reigning Patriot League co-rookie of the year Steve Suarez. Suarez has lead the team all year, along with junior Will Robinson and junior co-captain Shane Gilroy, and said he looks to lead the Mountain Hawks to their first victory of the year.

"Each week [Suarez, Robinson, and Gilroy] seem to separate themselves from the rest of the team," Men's Head Coach Henry D'Alberto said. "If those three can play well, we have a chance to win."

Suarez said he hopes playing at home will add to the experience.

"It'll be nice to play at home in front of our fans," Suarez said. "Hopefully a lot of people will come out to watch us play. We know this course pretty well and I feel fairly confident that we can go out and win this thing."

Suarez lead Lehigh's golfers last weekend in the MacDonald Cup hosted by Yale University by shooting 154 - an average of 77 over two rounds.

Suarez has been earning accolades for his play throughout his career at Lehigh, but all Suarez cares about is winning, he said.

"I try not to think about those things," Suarez said. "I just want to make sure that on the back nine on Sunday, we have a chance to win. If we don't win, awards mean nothing."

D'Alberto is confident the team will have a strong showing this weekend, he said.

"I am expecting to win," D'Alberto said. "We have the advantage of knowing the course. With proper preparation, I think we will have a chance come Sunday afternoon."
