Bone marrow, giving the gift of life

I noticed an ad in the Oct. 23 issue of The Brown and White about a bone marrow donor drive taking place Oct. 29 and 30 in the Ulrich Great Room.
The importance of this cannot be overstated. In 1999, the Health and Wellness Center coordinated a bone marrow registry drive on campus.
In the fall 2005 Lehigh alumni bulletin, we learned that one of our student donors was contacted in January 2004 and agreed to donate his stem cells. A young woman's life was saved.
It's easier now than ever to enter the registry, with a simple swab of cells from inside the mouth. So I'm hoping many will take time out of their busy schedules for such a worthy cause.
