I've heard all the complaints about Taylor Gymnasium not being a sufficient area for students to work out. I've heard the complaints about having to sign up for elliptical machines and treadmills and how Lehigh should put new equipment in the gym.

Let's assume Lehigh puts more equipment in the gym. Then you'll complain it's too cramped and there is no room to walk.

Or maybe you'll complain that, because it's too cramped, Lehigh should just build a whole new gym to accommodate all the new equipment they bought.

I'm not sure if students are aware there is an entire campus to run on. You don't have to wait for others to finish; you won't have to restrain your workout to just 30-minute time slots, and you can do it at your convenience.

There are other ways to get a good workout besides using an elliptical. Figure out what's best for you, and this may mean something other than elliptical machines and treadmills.

Regarding the complaint about rust on the weights - the last time I checked working out isn't supposed to be a clean activity. If you're trying to look pretty for the girls that are working out you probably aren't working out for the right reasons anyway. Take a shower when you're done; the rust comes off.

Basically, the university is here to give you an education first and foremost. If the budget can be better allocated in these areas I would want the administration to spend it there first.

There are plenty of ways students at Lehigh can get a good workout and stay in shape without going to the gym at all.
