Coming off a 2-0 win over Lafayette College, the women's soccer team looks to continue league play with another victory tonight against Bucknell University.

With a record of 1-2-1 in the Patriot League, the fourth place Mountain Hawks look to gain on the Bison who are undefeated and in first place the Patriot League.

The Bison are 8-6-9, 4-0 in league play.

The next three games are vital for the Hawks to ensure a playoff spot.

In their last game the Hawks dominated Lafayette in shots, 25-5, and held the Leopards to zero corner kicks. However despite the ball control, the team had trouble executing plays, not scoring its first goal until the second half.

The team will have to improve its offensive strategy against Bucknell in order to take advantage of its scoring opportunities, said assistant coach Mary McVeigh.

The Bisons' offense will be led by junior Jennifer Dervarics who scored twice in the Bisons' 3-1 win over Colgate University Saturday.

Dervarics leads the Bison in scoring with 23 points, including nine goals and five assists.

Despite the Bisons' strong league record, McVeigh said the Hawks are optimistic coming off last weekend's victory.

"We haven't lost to [Bucknell] the past three years and we plan to keep it that way," McVeigh said.

At practice, the team has been working on its offensive play and its ability to finish scoring chances.

Defensively, the Hawks have had shutouts in their past two league games against Navy and Lafayette and are looking to continue that throughout the rest of the season.

"We are enthusiastic to play on Friday," senior forward Melissa Montalvo said. "We are finding our identity as a team and the last few games we have been working harder to play consistently for the full 90 minutes."

The Hawks will be led offensively by sophomore forward Liz Carlos and Montalvo, who have nine points and 12 points, respectively.

Defensively, the team will be led by senior defender and co-captain Michaela Pawlewicz, who was named the Patriot League defensive player of the week Monday.

The game will kick off at the Bucknell University Varsity Soccer Field in Lewisburg, Penn. at 7 p.m.
