The men's soccer team broke its three-game losing streak on Saturday with a 2-0 win over Army at home.

The Mountain Hawks remain No. 6 in the Patriot League with a 2-3-0 record, but the win bumped up their points to six to keep their post-season hopes alive.

The Hawks sealed the deal eight minutes into the second half when sophomore forward Kyle Evans was taken down in the box to give the Hawks a penalty kick. Evans scored the goal to make it 2-0.

Evans' goal secured the lead, but sophomore midfielder Jesse Schram set the tone for the match with a goal 46 seconds into the game.

Schram controlled the ball at Army's 18-yard line and ripped a shot past junior goalkeeper John-Michael Gallogly to make it 1-0.

Schram's shot was the first goal scored by the Hawks' midfield all season.

"He was unbelievably big when he scored that first goal," sophomore defender Matt McNeil said.

Black Knights' senior forward John Kubeika and sophomore midfielder Cole Dietz had a few chances to put Army back in the game, but were never able to convert. Army totaled 12 shots to the Hawks' eight, but had only three on goal.

Freshman Jon Nydell had three saves in the win and recorded his first career shutout in his second start for the Hawks. Gallogly had two saves for the Black Knights.

The Hawks head to Bucknell University for a crucial Patriot League match Saturday in Lewisburg, Pa. Bucknell is fifth in the Patriot League with a 2-2-1 record, 6-5-4 on the season.

"Every game now is a must-win game," McNeil said. "The stakes are raised now."
