You were robbed, get over it

I'm so relieved, Andrew Wenri ("I was robbed, so no candy this year," Oct. 30), that you have proof of who stole your precious $250 iPod. So few victims of such a violent and distressing crime have seen the perpetrator commit the crime. I can see by your vivid description of these brutal criminals ("townies"), that you saw them commit the crime and can give this helpful information to the police so that they can take appropriate action.
Or maybe I have it all wrong.
Maybe, just maybe, you got caught up in the hype of believing yourself to be a worthy Lehigh student who deserves to be treated with respect without offering any back to South Bethlehem.
Besides, I'm sure you live in one of the very few houses off campus that doesn't host loud parties causing local children and hard-working residents to lose sleep. I'm sure you have never broken the law either (I guess underage drinking doesn't count; you are at Lehigh after all).
Lucky for you, as a guest in this town, you get to leave this crime-infested place after four years for greener pastures, such as New York City or Philadelphia, where the residents will be sure to greet you with open arms.
Take a look around, Andrew. You're at a private school where all of your needs and wants are met, you have luxuries such as cars and iPods, and when you graduate you'll have countless opportunities because of your education.
While I never condone stealing regardless of the circumstances, I'm finding it very difficult to muster up any sort of sympathy for a wealthy white male who wants to ruin Halloween for innocent eight-year-olds who don't have access to half of the opportunities you do.
