The women's soccer team faces Army tomorrow at the Ulrich Sports Complex for senior night. The team must win in order to qualify for postseason play.
Senior forward Melissa Montalvo said she is looking forward to the game.
"Although there is a lot of pressure, I want us to be able to enjoy the atmosphere of the game and just have fun playing the sport that we love," Montalvo said.
Tomorrow's game is the last time seniors will play at home, Montalvo said.
"Everyone wants to play our best to honor them and come away with a win," sophomore forward Liz Carlos said. "We want to win this game for our seniors and ourselves. We would like to keep our season going as long as we can and with a win it might be possible."
The Mountain Hawks are not in complete control of their destiny. Sitting in sixth place, the Hawks need No. 5 Navy to defeat No. 4 Colgate University and No. 3 Army to keep their season alive.
"It is a must-win game for us, so at this point, our only plan is to come out with a win," senior co-captain and defender Michaela Pawlewicz said.
Head Coach Manny Oudin said he expects a good performance from the seniors.
"This is their last regular season home game, and they should want to have a great performance as a group," Oudin said.
Last year, the Hawks tied Army 1-1 at West Point. Oudin said success will depend on the focus, intensity and hard work of his players to walk away with the victory. The Hawks seem to have the same idea as well.
"If we play with the same intensity and mental toughness against Princeton and Bucknell [universities], we will earn the victory," Montalvo said.
Oudin said Army's main threats is its forwards, who complement each other very well.
"One is more of a typical target player with good size and strength who plays well with her back to goal," Oudin said. "The other is more athletic and possesses very good speed. Their central midfielders are also talented."
