A Lehigh student who was accused of sexually assaulting two Boston University women was sentenced to two years probation after taking a deal with the district attorney on March 7.

Daniel Glaser, '09, took the deal after the indecent assault charges for allegedly groping the two women were dropped by Brighton District Court Judge David T. Donnelly.

Glaser remains charged for breaking and entering and assault and battery. These charges will be dismissed after the probationary period, according to the district attorney press release.

Glaser said the indecent assault charges were dropped after investigations and statements by the women confirmed he did not touch them sexually.

"There is a difference between unintentionally scaring somebody and touching somebody inappropriately," he said. "I truly feel bad for scaring someone but I didn't touch them sexually."

Glaser said the charges were amended because they did not reflect the circumstances.

"Obviously I was acting stupid," Glaser said. "With that being said, I in no way sexually assaulted any girls and the fact that the sexual assault charges were dropped is a testament to the reality of what actually occurred that night. I want to take responsibility for my actions, for what I did, but I honestly feel the situation was taken way out of hand, the media sensationalized it and I was overcharged."

Glaser's probation includes 200 hours of community service, substance abuse testing and forbids interaction with the female victims or any contact with Boston University, the press release said.

If at any time Glaser violates the terms of his probation the case will be reopened and he will be tried for the charges.

Glaser said the results of his actions have shown him the necessity of thinking before acting, especially when alcohol is involved and in unfamiliar situations. Still, he said he was surprised himself when he learned what he was being charged with.

"When I had gotten arrested I thought I would get a drunken disorderly or a citation of some sort, not five felony charges"

Glaser was suspended from Lehigh University after the charges. His status as a student is undetermined until his upcoming court date with the university. He is currently taking classes at University of Massachusetts.

"The best way to get out of the situation is to turn it into something positive and that is what I am trying to do," he said. "For my personal life in terms of my behavior, but to try to help other people too who could possibly put themselves into this kind of situation."

Glaser was arrested after incidents in a Boston University residence hall on Jan. 20.

The night of the incident, Glaser, who is 20, said he had attended an off campus fraternity party where he had been drinking. Glaser and his friend Aaron Goodliss, 21, of Chestnut Hill, Mass., were signed into Claflin Hill, by two female residents. When he later entered a university residence hall, Glaser described his behavior as "rowdy."

"It was just immaturity and stupidity, plain and simple irresponsibility," he said.

Once inside, Glaser allegedly entered an unlocked room and got into bed with an 18-year-old woman, according to the press release. While Goodliss stood by the door, Glaser allegedly put his arms around the woman while she slept. She eventually woke up and kicked him out of her room.

Glaser then allegedly entered another unlocked room and attempted to get into bed with another female resident, but her roommates were awakened by the noise of Glaser moving a chair.

Glaser and Goodliss than left the residence hall and were arrested by the university police later that night.

Goodliss was sentenced to one-year probation and 100 hours of community service for his involvement.

How can you call it 'unintentionally scaring' someone when you went in their room while they were sleeping? Did you really think they would not be scared?

anonymous: Mr. Glaser is describing the workings of a drunken 20 year old male mind; in this conrext it makes sense.
