Letters: Offended, disappointed by ignorance

Over the past three and a half years I have spent at Lehigh, there have been a number of articles or cartoons published by The Brown and White that some would classify as being questionably offensive.

For the first time in my tenure here, I stumbled upon something quite distasteful that I and many others feel truly crossed the line.

Whether or not it was intentional, the cartoon by Lisa Luzzi, "Map for a successful St. Patrick's Day" (March 18, 2008) contained the phrase, "Wake up Jewish and protect your pot of gold," which is extremely offensive.

Thank you for reiterating this stereotype to me; I will now never forget I must be greedy, simply because I am genetically predisposed to be that way, merely because I am Jewish.

I am thoroughly surprised and disappointed the edit board was careless enough to let that cartoon be published. Comments like these reflect the very ignorant and na've culture that currently exists in our Lehigh community.
