At the end of the spring semester, two of Lehigh's prized assets will be leaving for Cornell University to replicate what they have built so masterfully at Lehigh.

We have known both Chris Marshall and Colleen Griggs since 2002 and 2004 respectively. Chris, as the director of the alumni office, transformed Lehigh alumni relations into one of the top programs in the nation. Colleen, as the director of young alumni and student alumni relations, connected with students in a unique way that reflected the very best Lehigh has to offer.

Although many current students may know of Lehigh Under the Stars as an annual event, we can remember the day the idea became a reality. Both Chris and Colleen were there to support and encourage us to think big and pursue our vision for the event.

I vividly remember Colleen willingly answering my phone calls at 3 a.m. when I was class president and had an idea for what I thought would be an amazing class event.

Sumona fondly recalls Chris being the frontrunner for the creation of the association of student alumni; he was, and still is, our biggest fan. With an added perspective, now that we have been away from Lehigh for almost two years, we now understand why Lehigh is truly extraordinary - the faculty, administration and staff truly care about Lehigh students, and their energy is contagious.

Lehigh will miss the contributions both Chris and Colleen made on a daily basis to the Lehigh community; however, the effects of their hard work and dedication will be felt for generations of Lehigh students and alumni. We are confident their contributions have set high standards helping us to continue Asa Packer's tradition of excellence at Lehigh.

Our best wishes are with both Chris and Colleen.

I am amazed that the letter writers do not show any awareness of how rude it would be to call someone at 3:00a.m. with an idea for a class event? Why could that not wait until someone is actually at work?

I think the letter writers are trying to show how personable and dedicated Chris Marshall and Colleen Griggs have been to Lehigh and its student programs. (Continued…)
