Ricardo Alvayero, '10, who is facing multiple state and federal charges related to a theft on campus in January and extortion in March, waived his preliminary hearing Thursday, according to an article published in The Express Times.

Alvayero is charged with burglary, theft and receiving stolen property after stealing two laptop computers and undergarments from the room of Sarah Wolfe, '10, in Taylor Residential College on Jan. 26.

He is also facing a federal charge of interstate communications after threatening to distribute provocative pictures of Wolfe taken from her computer if she did not send him more pictures. He was charged on March 24.

Alvayero is on house arrest by electronic monitoring at his mother's home in Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y while he was awaits trial. The state charges have been forwarded to Northampton County Court.
