We are glad Lehigh is taking the time (and spending the money) to do this project the right way, so this building will continue to be efficient and environmentally friendly many years from now.
Some students may see the delay or the building's construction as a problem or an inconvenience. The construction of this building will take away student parking spaces and could be a noisy, unsightly project for students for years to come. More importantly, the building will rob students of one of the only flat green spaces on campus.
To compensate for this, perhaps Lehigh could open up some green space elsewhere on campus. For example, they could eliminating all of the crisscrossing concrete pathways behind Rauch Business Center and plant grass - giving students a new flat surface to play frisbee or lay out on.
Students should understand that change is rarely immediate, and although this delay in construction may mean they can't reap the benefits of this green building, it will have very positive effects on future students.
