A Lafayette senior was found dead Thursday afternoon in his off-campus home, police said.
Jeremy Saxe, 21, of Orange, Conn., was found dead on 638 Monroe St. at 1:18 p.m by another student who then called police, officials said.
Lafayette President Daniel H. Weiss said the cause of the death is still unknown and that it will be investigated by campus police, the Northampton County coroner and the Easton Police Department.
Saxe's parents were notified of his death before his name was released, Weiss said.
"My thoughts are with them and other family members, and also with our community. I extend to his family and to all those who knew Jeremy my heartfelt condolences," Weiss said.
A gathering in Colton Chapel at the college was held last night at 6 p.m. According to The Express Times, about 200 people showed up at the vigil, where counselors were available.
Saxe was a philosophy major and a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity, according to the fraternity chapter's Web site.
